Mmkayyy, while they *say* you win more flies with honey, 🤷🏼♀️ this must be said:
A painting isn’t trying to be a photograph.
I said what I said.
Stunning and detailed photographs of your wedding have a frame-worthy place on both your walls and in a gorgeous album on your bookshelf.
But while you may spend eons trying to figure out which of the most beautiful photos you should put on your walls (and trust me, I sincerely hope that you’re choosing between a lot of beautiful photos to hang up in your home to admire, because if that’s the case, you picked a really stellar photographer)… paintings are different and have a different place…
WHICH MEANS, that hiring a live painter for your wedding is essentially an entirely different thing than a photographer.
Maybe it’s time to start thinking a little differently about how to remember your wedding day — the perfect Goldilocks sweet spot between a totally abstract or impersonal albeit beautiful fine art piece and the customized details of multiple photographs.
I’m talking about a live wedding painting. And in this blog post I’m sharing some details that you may not know about an impressionist style live wedding painting.⤵️
“How on earth do we stay STILL long enough for you to complete the painting?!”
Not in a literal sense, anyway.
With live wedding painting, you can go about your day trusting me to create the painting that shares your vision. No need to stay still. No need to be present for in front of me to create the entire piece.
Technology is a beautiful thing, and I use technology to create the perfect painting for you.
I use a combination of videos and photographs to make the perfect sketch and watercolor impressionist painting that brings YOUR VISION to LIFE.
That’s part of an impressionist style — highlighting the movement of the moment. It’s not everyday you get married — and I want to share that beautiful movement so that you can remember it forever.
And I get it, those bridal shoes are gorgeous, but they can be uncomfortable. You won’t be stuck in one position for hours on end. You’ve got a wedding to enjoy and guests to tend to!
TONE + FEELING
“But will all my people look GOOD?!”
Short answer — yes.
Long answer — there is so much more to it than that! Not only will you look good, all the people and details in your painting will look good.
My goal is to share the tone and feeling of your day — the love that not only you and your person share, but also the endearing togetherness your people share when they support and encourage you on your wedding day.
Will it look HYPERREALISTIC? Absolutely not.
If you want that, I’m happy to suggest another painter.
As for me — I paint what I see in a beautiful impressionist style so that YOU get the perfect *feeling* painting to hang in your home.
It’s not meant to look like a photo — that’s why you hired your photographer. It’s meant to show the feeling and tone of your day more than each explicit detail.
Whatever you want in your painting and whoever you want in your painting, let me know and I’ll make it happen.
AND — it’ll look good. I promise.
“What’s your specialism?”
My favorite thing to paint other than you and your new partner are floral details.
Garden party weddings are my absolute favorite — I love painting the details of the day and letting you remember those special florals you waited so long to see.
No matter where your wedding is, it’s important to capture the light — and I mean that literally and metaphorically!
The light (as in you and your partner, the beautiful love you share) and also the LIGHT — the literal light and how it moves and lives in your piece.
Both of these help me capture exactly the perfect moment in the best way — the way that will leave you with a conversation starter hanging on your wall — one that people love when they walk in your door, but on closer inspection, they see it’s not just *a* wedding, it’s YOUR wedding.
You get a personalized piece that you’ll cherish for generations.
