Why Have a Destination Wedding in Tulsa?
Alright, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Remember that One Tree Hill episode where hearts were aflutter, and everyone had butterflies in their stomachs? Okay, maybe that was EVERY episode?
Sophia Bush and Grant Hughes wedding was full of emotion in so many ways. Not only was their wedding day so full of joy, Sophia wanted to showcase on the cultural renaissance happening in Tulsa. They used their global platform to highlight the Tulsa and Black Wall Street, the arts, and called attention to civil justice deep work happening in Tulsa. The weekend centered around their wedding and teaching their guests about Tulsa and her history.
“Tulsa is a place where so much progressive justice work is happening, so much deep history has been uncovered and is at long last being honored, and so many people are building a deeply inspiring future,” Sophia said to Vogue. “When thinking about the purpose of our wedding, we wanted our community that pours into us to pour into a community at large that we love and that deserves all our attention.”

As someone who doesn’t love the spotlight myself, I’m just in awe of the way Sophia Bush and Grant Hughes used their wedding to draw attention to all that’s happening in Tulsa — so much love and kindness.
